AN ACT to incorporate the Ruhunu Kala Kawaya.

[Date of Commencement: 27th February, 1991]

1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the "Ruhunu Kala Kawaya” (Incorporation) Act.

2. Incorporation of the Ruhunu Kala Kawaya.

From and after the date of commencement of this Act such and so many persons as now are members of the "Ruhunu Kala Kawaya” (hereinafter referred to as the "Kala Kawaya”) or shall hereafter be admitted members of the Corporation hereby constituted, shall be a body corporate (hereinafter referred to as "the Corporation”) with perpetual succession under the name and style of the "Ruhunu Kala Kawaya” and by that name may sue and be sued in all courts, with full power and authority, to have, and to use a common seal and to change and alter the same at its pleasure.

3. General objects of the Corporation.

The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be—

(a) to foster and promote the traditional Ruhunu, Kandyan and Sabaragamuwa dancing techniques of Sri Lanka;

(b) to conduct a school for the teaching of Ruhunu dancing techniques to the younger generation free of charge;
