AN ACT to incorporate the Sri Lanka Historical Association.

[Date of Commencement: 27th March, 1998]

1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Sri Lanka Historical Association (Incorporation) Act.

2. Incorporation of the Sri Lanka Historical Association.

From and after the commencement of this Act, such and so many persons as now are members of the Sri Lanka Historical Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Association”) or shall hereafter be admitted as members of the Corporation hereby constituted shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession under the name and style of "The Sri Lanka Historical Association” (hereinafter referred to as "the Corporation”) and by that name may sue and be sued in all courts, with full power and authority to have and use a common seal and alter the same at its pleasure.

3. General objects of the Corporation.

The general objects for which the Corporation is established are hereby declared to be—

(a) To initiate and promote research into historical studies with special reference to the history of Sri Lanka;

(b) To make comparative and evaluative studies of the history and civilisations of Sri Lanka;

(c) to establish a library and provide other services and to print, publish and sell, books, journals, memories, monographs and periodicals in fulfillment of the objects of the Corporation;
